Identification and labelling processes are undergoing a profound transformation in several areas.
We are at a key moment, with challenges and needs that must be addressed:
- The fight against counterfeiting and the need to authenticate product batches and individual units.
- Unit-level traceability across the supply chain, from the origin of raw materials to final delivery to the end user.
- Significant improvement in sustainability, with growing pressure from new regulations and social demand, to reduce waste and promote circular economy practices in our factories.
- Digitalization and industrial automation, redefining how we identify products, connect with them, and communicate real-time information.
Facing these challenges is a real necessity… but also an opportunity to strengthen trust with your clients and gain competitiveness.
1-Key trends we cannot ignore.
✅Adoption of sustainable materials: a necessary commitment.
More and more companies are choosing materials and labels made from environmentally friendly materials. Adhesive materials may include recycled components or be produced from organic sources. To reduce waste, there are identification solutions that consume less material, and even reusable label options.
This need stems both from growing environmental awareness and the mandatory adoption of European regulations promoting eco-design, waste reduction, and packaging circularity.
At CINTA-PLAST, we help you redesign your labelling with next-generation materials to ensure your labels meet your sustainability goals.
✅ Smart identification: labels that deliver real-time information.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID-UHF) allows access to data stored in a chip embedded in a label.
Many companies already benefit from smart labels, enabling more efficient management by performing multiple automatic product code readings with an extremely low error rate compared to manual or semi-automatic processes.
Applications include inventory management, raw material traceability, product verification, and shipment tracking.
This boosts logistics efficiency and profitability, while drastically reducing claims and associated costs.
RFID labels also protect against fraud or tampering when combined with NFC chips—the same technology used daily for contactless payments or integrated into smartphones. NFC labels allow fast authentication, real-time communication, and improved end-user experience.
At CINTA-PLAST, we design and customize all the RFID-UHF and NFC smart labels you need, and advise you on efficient integration into your management system.
✅ Reliability and unit-level traceability from the origin.
In regulated sectors such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, or food, labels are much more than identifiers: they are key elements to ensure quality and reliability in production and delivery processes.
It is essential to guarantee traceability of each batch—without errors or product mix-ups—by applying strict protocols that ensure every product unit reaches the end user correctly.
Unit-level identification provides greater robustness, fewer errors, and higher profitability in your processes.
2-Regulatory compliance: preparing for new laws coming into force.
Which regulations should you keep in mind?
✅ PPWR – Regulation (EU) 2024/1781. Ecodesign for Sustainable Products.
A European regulation aimed at minimizing packaging waste and promoting reusable, recyclable, and more sustainable packaging.
It directly impacts product design, composition, and labeling, with clear eco-design and recyclability requirements.
✅ Introduction of the Digital Product Passport (DPP).
Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 also introduces the Digital Product Passport (DPP).
The DPP will become mandatory for sectors such as batteries, textiles, electronics, and chemicals. It requires labels to integrate digital information detailing product lifecycle, origin, maintenance, and recyclability.
The first sector will be batteries in 2027, while most priority sectors will be covered by 2030.
✅ Regulation (EU) 2023/1115. EUDR – Deforestation-free products.
This regulation requires companies to prove that certain product groups sold in the EU do not originate from deforested land.
It implies full traceability of raw materials and may affect label components such as paper, leather, cocoa, rubber, or palm oil.
What can you do today?
